First of all, what is a preferred currency?
You will always have a preferred currency. It is the one in which your total account balance and any balances you have in other currencies will be expressed, converted to the current exchange rate in real time. Also, your preferred currency is the currency in which people see that you want to receive payments whenever they want to send you money.
You can receive any currency as long as you have a spendable balance in that currency, but they will always be expressed in the default currency.
In the example below, the sender has selected Euros and the receiver has Argentine pesos as the preferred currency, so it is shown first in the menu. The default currency is the currency that is shown first in the menu. The receiver will only be able to receive other currencies of they have a balance (account) in that currency, which can be checked by clicking on the currency menu on the right side of the box
1. First, press on your profile picture in the overview screen's top-right.
2. Press the "preferences"-button.
3. press the "change currency"-button.
4. Set your preferred currency and finish the operation by pressing the "change currency"-button on the bottom of the page
